Appeal from the Zoopatrol Charitable Organization

Dear Vladlen Mykhailovych! For more than 200 days, Ukrainians have been heroically resisting the Russian invaders. The Kyiv region, and the city of Irpin in particular, became a bridgehead for deterring the Russian invasion on the way to the capital of Ukraine. As a result, this territory suffered irreparable losses and terrible destruction. Among the victims, there are many domestic animals that ended up on the street, as well as street animals that were injured and traumatized during the hostilities. Despite tragic events, financial difficulties and the lack of sufficient material and technical support, the team of the NGO “ZooPatrol Ukraine” works 24/7 almost without rest and often risking their lives, helping pets and their owners. Thanks to the coverage of our activities in social networks, the organization “ZooPatrol Ukraine” is well known not only in the de-occupied cities of the Kyiv region – Irpin, Bucha, Gostomel, Borodyanka, but also throughout Ukraine. Since March 2022, we have already saved more than 2,000 animals. Today, “ZooPatrol Ukraine” cares for more than 200 animals affected by military actions. They need treatment, rehabilitation and special care. We are still working on the construction of our shelter in Irpen, which started in early May 2022. This shelter will have a new clinic, a quarantine area and an adaptive playground for the animals and their future owners. Currently, we need the help of foreign volunteers to implement our animal sterilization plan at the shelter clinic in Irpen according to the memorandum concluded between the NGO “ZooPatrol Ukraine” and the Irpin City Council. We considered the appeal of veterinary surgeon Megan Romano from the state of Kentucky (USA) and decided to invite Megan to volunteer cooperation in the implementation of the sterilization program for street and homeless animals in the city of Irpin, who lost their homes as a result of the Russian invasion in March 2022. In order to realize this, we really need medicines to sterilize 100 animals. Unfortunately, we ourselves are not able to purchase them in full, but we are looking for opportunities. Therefore, we ask you to provide assistance with sterilization preparations, vaccines, dressing materials, anesthetics, antibiotics, suture materials, and preparations and solutions for the hygiene of 100 animals (the list is attached to the letter). Your help will be given free of charge to animals helped by the NGO “ZooPatrol Ukraine”, which are in the territory of the de-occupied city of Irpin, Kyiv region, and are cared for by internally displaced persons, socially vulnerable population groups and volunteers.

We appreciate everyone’s support during this difficult time. 🫶🏼 But we are especially grateful to the organizations that help us with medicines and equipment. Right now, almost all of our efforts are focused on sheltering and rescuing animals affected by the onset of a full-scale invasion. ✅ We are looking for new owners for abandoned animals, take care of their health, and recently became a participant in the USAVA BASED 2022-2023 program, thanks to which we managed to sterilize and castrate all the animals in the shelter in Irpen! We sincerely thank the Ukrainian Association of Doctors of Small Animal Veterinary Medicine, which provided us with all the necessary drugs and auxiliary materials for the sterilization and castration of the animals we rescued, as well as for the continuous free assistance to the homeless and street animals of Irpin, who lost their homes due to the war.
